The greatest show in the world: “The Cross of Christ”

The greatest spectacle in the world: “The Cross of Christ.” In light of this supreme spectacle, Charles Spurgeon asked rhetorically, “Was there ever a picture like that which God painted with the brush of eternal love, dipped in the ink of Almighty wrath, on the summit of Calvary?”
Answer: No. Taking upon Himself the wrath, this burden of Christ, invisible to the naked eye, is the true Spectacle within the Spectacle, a climactic moment in Trinitarian history in which the full cup of God's wrath was delivered to the precious Son.
So that he may drink it to the last drop. He who knew no sin was made sin, became our sin and incarnated the full impiety of our iniquities.
What was the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ
The spectacle of Christ's body was fixed before the mocking eyes of wicked men, but it was also fixed as the Spectacle of propitiation and absorption of wrath before the forsaken eyes of a holy God.
“As I survey the impressive cross, what do I see?” asks Martyn Lloyd-Jones. “I see a spectacle the likes of which the world has never seen before, and will never see again. […]
The paradoxes of the Cross of Christ
The cross, with all its powerful paradoxes, is a spectacle that pales into insignificance everything you can think of in history, as well as everything you can imagine.” And he adds:
“We are living in an age that is very fond of spectacle, in the sense of some notable happenings and events and some great performances.
The Christian's Hope
And the Christian glories in the cross as a spectacle, because the more he looks at the cross, the more he sees the glory of God being revealed to him. It displays to him the glory of the triune God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
He sees all this shining upon Him.” Therefore, never give up on serving Christ, He knows what He is doing and what to do in your life forever!
